The 2021 Subaru Ascent vs. the Competition - Which Three-Row SUV is Right for Your Family?
Shopping for a new SUV to ferry your family to school, soccer practice, trips to visit family, and more, can lead to a lot of options. Here in the Sioux City area alone, there are a number of vehicles available to meet and test drive. But none of those other vehicles have the same high quality, the same impressive features, and the same meticulous engineering of the Subaru Ascent that we have in stock at Jensen Subaru.
To help our customers get to know the new Ascent better and to help them understand what makes it a great option for local Sioux City families, we've compared it next two of its main competitors. Read on to learn about some of the ways in which our SUV comes out ahead and then make your way to see us in person to meet it for yourself.
The Subaru Ascent vs. the Toyota Highlander
- Cargo space and small storage solutions. From larger loads, such as a week's worth of groceries for your family, to smaller items such as laptops and cellphones, the new Subaru Ascent offers more room for your important stuff than the Toyota Highlander. In fact, while the Ascent has up to 17.8 cubic feet of cargo space available behind all three rows of seats, the Highlander offers just 16 cubic feet. Plus, the Ascent keeps the little things in mind as well, offering thoughtful additions and a class-leading 19 cup holders, so everyone has a place for their own things, and you don't have to listen to any backseat bickering over space.
- Fuel capacity and range. Make your fill-ups stretch further with the Subaru Ascent than with the Toyota Highlander. Every Ascent gets a fuel capacity of more than 19 gallons, translating to 405 miles in the city or 521 miles on the highway every time you fill it up. But the Highlander has a tank that holds just 17.9 gallons, ranging in a rating of 376 miles in the city or 519 miles on the highway per fill up.
- Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. As a high-quality vehicle from the Subaru lineup, the Ascent gets the carmaker's one signature feature standard that other brands can't compete with - all-wheel drive. Get more peace of mind and drive securely through Vermillion or Le Mars, knowing that every Ascent gets AWD standard. The Highlander, on the other hand, has all-wheel drive available, but it's listed as an option you have to request and pay extra for.
The Subaru Ascent vs. the Honda Pilot
- Passenger space. Whether you have tall friends or growing, gangly teenagers, everyone will be happy and comfortable in the Subaru Ascent. It offers ample headroom, legroom, and elbow room in all three rows, and, in fact, has more space to stretch out in across most areas when compared next to the Honda Pilot.
- Standard features. Get more of the tech and amenities you really want with the Subaru Ascent right out of the gate. Every trim level for the Ascent lineup receives a slew of sought-after features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and steering-responsive, adaptive headlights. The Honda Pilot doesn't add many of these features until higher up the trim level list, if it has them at all.
- Standard all-wheel drive. As with the Toyota comparison before this, the Honda Pilot also doesn't offer drivers the standard all-wheel drive feature that the Ascent has. The added bonus of AWD is a given with every Ascent. But you'll have to pay more and request it special with the Honda Pilot.
