We've been nationally recognized for our dedication to our community and the Subaru Love Promise.
We're honored to receive the 2022 Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment Award. This award nationally recognizes Subaru retailers who are making the world a better place while demonstrating an outstanding commitment to supporting passions and causes in local communities. These efforts are focused in important areas such as the environment, community, health, education, and pets.
Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.
Whether they live in our homes or in the wild, Subaru is committed to keeping all animals safe and healthy.
A partner since 2008, Subaru has donated over $28 million to the ASPCA and through Subaru Loves Pets has helped support the rescue, transport, adoption, and well-being of over 230,000 animals across the country.
Subaru and our retailers are committed to protecting and preserving the Earth, not just by our words, but also by our actions.
Since 2018, as part of the Subaru Loves the Earth initiative, Subaru and retailers across the country have partnered with TerraCycle® and have collected over 7 million pieces of hard-to-recycle trash from their communities. Items such as snack bag wrappers, coffee cups, or used cabin air filters from service areas have been diverted from landfills and given a second life by TerraCycle when it is converted into durable furniture and other usable items.
It's our goal to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible.
Since 2015 Subaru, in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement Science, donated over 369,000 award-winning science books. In addition, through our partnerships with Staples and Adoptaclassroom.org we supported teachers and students with donations of $400,000 in gift cards and school supplies.
In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.
In 2020, Subaru and its retailers made a donation to Feeding America to provide 50 million meals to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 crisis,* making meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.
*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.
We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can.
Since 2016, Subaru and its retailers have partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to donate over 167,000 blankets and 21,500 arts & crafts kits and reached nearly 150,000 patients in more than 780 hospitals nationwide.
Our Love Promise can be seen in various partnerships with local charities and non-profits. We're grateful for the opportunity, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve it as well.
Subaru and Jensen Subaru believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.
Following on the heels of our successful adoption event earlier this month, Jensen Subaru employees were still feeling the excitement and wanted to do more to help Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue. In talking with several volunteers at the pet adoption event, we often heard the need for dog and cat food and that the supply shelves at Noah’s Hope were almost empty. It didn’t take long for everyone to come together and bring in almost 400 pounds of food for their shelves! October was a great month for Jensen Subaru and our partnership with Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue. We saw them adopt 31 animals during the month (13 of them at our first ever adoption event alone!) and now we hope this food will give them the additional support they need in helping their remaining animals find their fur-ever homes.
October 28th was National First Responders Day and the employees at Jensen Subaru wanted to show their appreciation. Armed with trays of cookies, employees went to all seven fire stations plus the headquarters for the Sioux City Police and Fire Departments. A small gesture on our part to thank them for dedicating their lives to saving others. It was a nice way to interact with these first responders and letting them know how much we value them.
Noah's Hope is an Animal Rescue located in Sioux City, Iowa. We are a foster based rescue so all of our animals are in foster homes and not in shelters. Each animal brought in is given the medical attention they may need. We bring in animals that are not in the best situations and are shown love (some for the first time). We bring in the underdogs that most people look past.
October 8th was a perfect fall day for our first ever on-site adoption event in conjunction with Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue. Over 30 volunteers setup up to help showcase the 34 dogs and 12 cats that were on hand to find their fur-ever homes. By the end of the day, 13 animals left with their new families! So many families leaving with smiles on their faces as they welcomed a new member into their home. As part of the Subaru Loves Pets campaign, $1,300 will be donated to Noah’s Hope just from this one-day event! As if that wasn’t enough, Jensen Subaru also handed out gift bags to those new families that included Subaru-branded items such as pet mats, toys, and treats. In addition, no event is complete without a cookout – our crew grilled up 150 hamburgers and hotdogs to ensure all the volunteers, new families and customers were fed well. To say we enjoyed the day is an understatement! As we cleaned up, you could still hear the excitement as everyone talked about the day. According to some of the volunteers, this was the biggest adoption event they have ever had. Wait until they see what we do next year!
Thank you to Jensen Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for partnering to donate blankets to the patients of the June E. Nylen Cancer Center to receive during their first chemotherapy treatment. Patients are surprised and overwhelmed by this simple, generous act that makes an impact during their stressful first treatment. Many patients continue to bring these soft warm blankets back to their future treatments. Last year the June E. Nylen Cancer Center cared for 7,671 individual patients from the 15-county service area. The impact of philanthropy is immeasurable! Thank you again for investing in our organization, our mission, and in the patients we serve. You really did spread hope, love, and warmth to our cancer patients through the Subaru Loves to Care partnership!
Jensen Subaru has been a great partner of the Sunnybrook Hope Center since we opened nearly three years ago. Jensen has hosted multiple food drives providing hundred of pounds of food with each drive. Some of their employees are leading teams for fundraisers and also have helped with food pantry preparation and food distribution. Jensen Subaru has also been very helpful in creating public awareness in the Siouxland area. The ongoing support of this organization has been significant in the operations at the Hope Center and addressing food insecurity in the area.
Jensen Subaru was happy to be participating in the Subaru Loves Learning event again this year. When discussing the event with staff, we knew that helping one school just wasn’t enough. We wanted to do more; not only helping to provide some additional supplies for the school, but to also let them know how much we appreciate them! We made a list of supplies that showed up on all their school supply lists and went shopping. Antibacterial wipes, tissues, paper, Ziploc bags, glue, pencils, markers, crayons, hand sanitizer, etc. all went into the shopping cart. We then took all these supplies and made a “cake” to present to five different Sioux City elementary schools. Extra supplies were put into tote bags as well. On Friday, September 16th, we headed out to present our “cakes” to the deserving schools and we were met with overwhelming thanks and gratitude! What a great way to start the school year – for all of us!
We are so grateful for how Jensen Subaru cares for Siouxland women and families through Her Health Women's Center. Recently "Jess" came to purchase needed items at our baby boutique with the points she had earned in our parenting program. Having no family close by meant she had little support, but she knew she could count on our center to help. With a huge smile "Jess" stated, "Thank you for being there for me. I could never have done this without you guys." Jensen Subaru is always there for Her Health, sponsoring events and getting the word out so we can be there for our clients. We are thankful for the amazing generosity they show us and so many others in the community.
Crittenton Center is so grateful for the support of Jensen Subaru in helping us serve at-risk children, teens and families. Your support of our annual fundraiser helps kids like Sara learn life-skills such as applying for a job, cooking, cleaning and gives them the support they need to finish high school and live on their own.
Jensen Subaru has been a great partner of the Hope Center in Sioux City even before we opened our doors in January 2020. Whenever asked they find a way to support the Hope Center and serve the under resourced in Siouxland. Jensen has hosted food drives, provided donations, and several employees have volunteered to assist when needed. We were honored to be selected as the local charity for the Share The Love Event for 2020 and again for 2021. Jensen Subaru has been a great partner and the entire team is a pleasure to work with.
The Hope Center opened in January 2020. Jensen Subaru started helping before the Hope Center even opened in the fall of 2019 with a food drive and providing cloth grocery bags to encourage food donations. When the Covid 19 pandemic hit in March the number of people needing food assistance doubled and the Hope Center is now serving in excess of 400 households per week. Jensen Subaru has continued support for the entire year, responding positively to any and all requests for help from the Hope Center. Jensen Subaru has encouraged employees to help as volunteers, donate food, and the dealership has hosted food drives to promote community awareness. Jensen has also provided transportation and repair service as needed. Jensen Subaru goes above and beyond Sharing the Love and working to reduce food insecurity in the area.
This week the Hope Center received the following handwritten note. Thanks to the generous support of Jensen Subaru the Hope Center has been able to purchase food to assist families in a difficult time. "I just want to say thank you for all the groceries we have received. My husband has Alzheimer's and we are on a fixed income. We just moved here in November and we are broke and need help. Someone recommended the Hope Center to us. We will never be able to repay you for your kindness and generosity shown to us. God Bless You All"
One of our staff people knew the owner of Jensen Subaru. We were all familiar with the Share the Love program and how incredible it was. We were able to make the connection and be chosen as a recipient of this program. The timing was perfect, as we are a domestic violence shelter, and we had seen a dramatic increase in our census. This gift went directly to help those in need that were fleeing violence in their homes. It was an unexpected blessing, and the money went a long way!
Jensen Dealerships has been a valued partner with our organization for many years. Bob Jensen has a hugely generous heart and desires to make a difference for good in his community, which means he not only supports us, but he supports numerous non-profits in our area. Jensen Dealerships knows the value of strong families which is why he has given his support to our parenting program and our pregnancy care services. A particular client of ours, enrolled in our parenting classes, shared how she had had to raise her siblings when she was young, as her parents were addicted to drugs. When she became pregnant, she was terrified about being a mom. One day after meeting with her mentor and watching a lesson on parenting essentials, she gratefully shared, "I am so thankful for this program. I did not think I could do this since I had no role model in being a mom. Thank you for giving me the tools to raise our son to become a contributing member of our community. And thank you for allowing me to 'spend' my earned points on supplies I need for him." This is what Jensen Dealerships in Sioux City is committed to - giving individuals a hand-up to better their situation for themselves and their families, and providing the tools necessary to aid in their success. We are so grateful for their support. Susie Edgar Executive Director, Her Health Women's Center
I am in the middle of a nasty divorce. My husband of 44 years kept taking the keys to my vehicle away and telling me to walk. That's when I decided to buy my first car all by myself. I went onto Jensens of Sioux City's website and found the car I liked. My sales person found me the exact color and extras I wanted, the loan officer made loan process so simple and informative and the manager made sure I had no questions that went unanswered. Everyone was thanking me and all I wanted to do was hug them all. When I drove off I got 2 blocks away and started crying and had to pull over. That was the start of ME becoming the stronger new me. THANK YOU
On June 25 the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Iowa Chapter and Jensen Subaru had the pleasure of delivering blankets and arts & craft kits to June Nylen Cancer Center as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. These comforting gifts were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by the customers and staff of Jensen Subaru. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the June Nylen Cancer Center staff who were thrilled to distribute these comforting gifts to their patients.LLS is proud to partner with Subaru to spread hope, love and warmth to those fighting cancer, across the country and right here in the Sioux City community. Troy Fuller, Subaru Sales Manager said “We are blessed to be a part of a great car manufacturer, Subaru of America, and that we are able to sponsor events such as Subaru Loves to Care as part of the Love Promise. We are honored to partner with such special organizations as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the June E. Nylen Cancer Center to provide just a little bit comfort”.Many thanks to everyone at Jensen Subaru and June Nylen Cancer Center not only for a memorable day, but for supporting LLS’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
At Camp High Hopes, we are thrilled Jensen Subaru chose us as the 2018/2019 Share the Love recipient! Jensen Subaru does so much for the community and we are proud to be a part of that. It's so heartwarming to see a local business donating back to the community that supports them. This Share the Love gift will be used to directly benefit our campers enrolled in 2019 Summer Sleep Away Camp programs. It will help to cover the cost of things like adapted activities, specialized equipment, healthy meals, medical supplies, and transportation. It allows campers to experience things they've never had a chance to before! Thank you, Jensen Subaru, for helping enrich the lives of people with disabilities in Siouxland! You have given campers life-changing opportunities and have helped Camp High Hopes to share the smiles with our amazing campers!
On behalf of LLS, we would like to Thank Jensen Subaru for this continued partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the local cancer center. On June 13th, 2018, Jensen Subaru staff presented June E. Nylen Community Cancer center with 80 blankets, care cards and 10 craft kits. Jensen Subaru and the Nylen Community Cancer staff have a great relationship as this is the second year for the deliveries of blankets and just this last year they donated $6,000 to the cancer center from their Share the Love Program. LLS looks forward to continuing this partnership with both entities and is Thankful for all the work done by Subaru!
We thank Jensen Subaru in Sioux City for their generous donation of over $6000 to be used for technology here at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center with the "Share the Love" program. Between the months of November 17th to January 2018, customers who bought a new Subaru could choose to donate to the local charity with the dealership; donating $400 from each sale. For the Cancer Center, it provides the opportunity to fund new technology for their patients. “Everyone has been touched by cancer in one way or another, and without local community support like Subaru we wouldn't be able to do the things that we do to support our patients and families, it's mission critical to have gifts like this and we are just very thankful to Subaru for reaching out to us and selecting us to be the love campaign charity,” said Karen Van De Steeg with June E. Nylen Cancer Center. Thank you Subaru!
Jensen Dealerships’ third-annual mission trip to Jamaica. Our volunteers will serve in February and are there for a week. WeServe in Sgt. Bluff, Iowa helps us set up these missions in Jamaica in partnership with Praying Pelican Missions. We spend part of our days at the schools, working with children in Jacobs Well. We also go out into the community to help with construction projects. We are very blessed to work for a company that gives us the ability to serve. On July 19, 2017 LLS and Jensen Subaru staff delivered 80 blankets, care cards and 10 craft kits to June E Nylen Cancer Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The staff at the Cancer Center was extremely touched and excited about the partnership. They also mentioned how appreciative they were that all the blankets were pre-wrapped, and in great storage boxes making it convenient for the hospital. While on the visit, I also learned that Jensen Subaru choose the Cancer Center as their hometown charity, and is going to continue the partnership with them helping the cancer patients. Tracie Blatchford, from Jensen Subaru, also mentioned “That all of the employees have been touched by cancer in some way, and she hopes we can continue this partnership both with LLS and the Cancer Center.”
